Performing in Mansun
Julian was hired as a stand-in band drummer after Carlton Hibbert's departure from the band in May 1996 and worked until Mansun hired their new drummer Andie Rathbone in August of that same year. He performed with the group at T in the Park in 1996 as well as at other gigs, and features on several photo-shoots including the one where the band are jumping over fallen trees. Several photos feature in the Mansun Fanzine here Take It Easy.

Julian gives back to the music world by working as a Drum Teacher in London[1]
Introducing our Drum Teacher Julian FentonJulian Fenton is a drummer, composer and teacher whose versatility has led him to work in many genres for the past 30 years. Julian’s career includes collaborating and performing with the Grammy and Ivor Novello Award winning songwriter and producer Eg White on the critically acclaimed Eg & Alice album 24 years of Hunger.
Julian has toured with many bands and artists such as ABC, The Lightning Seeds, Desiree, Mansun, Aha, Duran Duran and Motown legend Jimmy Ruffin to name a few.
He has also performed at jazz circuit favourites such as Ronnie Scots and 606 Club and played at worldwide festivals throughout Europe and US.
When Julian isn’t doing session recordings, he devotes his time to sharing his drum enthusiasm and passion by teaching and mentoring students. Julian teaches all levels and encourages beginners of all ages to grade 8 standard and above. Julian studied the Moeller Technique with the renowned Bob Armstrong and also studied postgraduate with Trevor Tomkin at the Guildhall School of Music.
The Julian Fenton Quartet
Julian now is working as a Jazz drummer in his musical project The Julian Fenton Quartet, featuring guitarist 'Jim Mullen', pianist 'Jonathan Gee' and bassist 'Ben Hazelton' [2]

Trivia
Fenton's stepfather, Neil Aspinall was tour manager and personal assistant for The Beatles and was regarded as "The Fifth Beatle".[3] He is also the half-brother of artist Joe Fenton.
Fenton currently plays with various rock, jazz, funk and reggae bands and having studied himself with Trevor Tomkins and Bob Armstrong, also teaches drums himself.[4]
